What is the difference between graduation and the commencement ceremony?

Simply put, Commencement is a ceremony held once a year that honors students who just have or will soon graduate, which means completing all requirements of their degree program. Participating in Commencement does not automatically mean that a student has graduated. In order to graduate, a student must complete all requirements of their degree program and fill out a graduation application.

When students apply to graduate, Registration/Student Records will check to certify that all program requirements have been satisfied. Once approved, the degree will display on the student transcript. Degrees are conferred 2 weeks after final grades are posted and you will receive a letter of congratulations with your diploma about 4 weeks later.

Participating in Commencement is a separate process from graduating. When a student confirms participation in Commencement, LCCC will reserve a seat at the ceremony and provide tickets for guests. Students who will finish their degree requirements during a later term (upcoming August) and prior December graduates can still participate in Commencement, but will need to RSVP.

How do I place an order for my cap and gown?

Due to continued shipping delays, the Bookstore has placed a bulk order for caps & gowns. When you RSVP to attend Commencement, information will be collected to ensure the correct gown size is given to you.

Is the LCCC graduation fair the only time when I can pick up my cap and gown?

No, you can pick-up graduation regalia any time after the cap and gown pick-up starts during the LCCC Main Campus Bookstore hours of operation.

The LCCC Main Campus Bookstore can ship your regalia to you for an extra charge.  Please fill out this Shipping Form to request your regalia to be shipped to you. Once you’ve filled out the form, the bookstore staff will call you to get payment. Please only fill out this form if you want it shipped to you!

What if I can’t attend the graduation fair?

No problem, the graduation fair is not a required event for graduates. You can pick-up graduation regalia any time after the cap and gown pick-up starts during the LCCC Main Campus Bookstore hours of operation.

Caps and gowns are only available for pick up at the Donley and Morgan Centers during the designated days and times for students who selected that option on the RSVP/cap & gown form.  All caps and gowns that are not picked up from the Donley and Morgan Centers will be returned to the LCCC Main Campus Bookstore and can be picked up there during regular business hours.

Can someone else pick up my cap & gown on my behalf?

Someone else can pick it up for you, but they will need a form of ID, as well as they must know your name and L#. They will sign on your behalf at time of pick up.

What if my cap & gown does not fit?

You can stop in-store to exchange it for a different size. We may be limited on sizes so please do this as early as possible after picking up your regalia.

How much does it cost for tickets, caps and gowns?

There is no cost to students for graduation tickets or caps and gowns.  If you choose to order custom graduation announcements, stoles of gratitude or items such as diploma frames, you will have to pay for any additional items you opt to purchase.

How can I purchase extra items such as diploma frames, souvenir tassels and stoles of gratitude?

The LCCC Bookstore stocks all kinds of great gifts for graduation including stoles, souvenir tassels, diploma frames and great alumni gear.  You can reach the LCCC Bookstore by email at LCCC@Bkstr.com, by phone at 610.799.1126 and shop online at www.LCCC.Bkstr.com.

When should I pick up my graduation tickets?

Tickets for graduation can be ordered through a link which will be emailed to students. After you order your tickets online you will need to print them out or ensure your guests have them digitally to be scanned upon entry to PPL Center. Please review the email from LCCC_Graduation and continue to check your LCCC email for more information.

How many tickets does each student receive, and what if I need extra tickets?

All guests are required to have a ticket to enter PPL Center for the Commencement Ceremony. Additional ticket details will be shared at a later date.

What if I won’t be attending the Commencement Ceremony?

Please complete the RSVP/Cap and Gown form. It is important that we have your response so we can plan accordingly.

If I owe money to LCCC, can I walk in graduation?

If you have outstanding payments of any kind to LCCC, you may be permitted to walk, but your diploma will not be mailed and your transcripts will not be released until the entire amount is paid. Please contact the LCCC Business Office regarding payment arrangements.

What if I forgot to apply for graduation before the deadline?

Please complete a late Application for Graduation. Please note, you are not guaranteed guest tickets to the ceremony.

If you completed all the requirements for your program, you are still eligible to walk in the May commencement ceremony. You will still be able pick up a cap and gown after cap and gown pick-up starts at the LCCC Graduation Fair or LCCC Bookstore.
